My secret (if any...) is that I don't enclose ANYTHING to be autographed. NO card. NO 3-by-5. I print out a second sheet with their name, a homemade "stationery" for them to use. I think many retired players have an autograph reflex when they see a card and have the SASE sealed before they realize the writer asked a question. Keep hope!

I just wrote to Aspromonte asking him a few questions for a project I am working on, and he didn’t reply, just signed the card I enclosed. Good for you on getting a response.
