Nice story about Mr. Shantz. Today (5/26/2012) is the 50th anniversary of the day I got a new glove, which happened to be a "Bobby Shantz" autograph Regent model. I was nine years old, and a left-handed pitcher. I still have the glove. I really wanted an Al Kaline model, but my parents convinced me that the Shantz glove was a better value. Coincidentally, after I pitched and won a game that day with the new glove, Al Kaline was injured (broken collarbone) making a diving catch for the final out in a Tigers 2-1 win over the Yankees in New York. Good luck and best of health to you, Mr. Shantz.
